The New Haven Early Childhood Council’s 30 members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor and School Superintendent. Council members include parents of young children, representatives from community organizations invested in the well-being of young children, and the Mayor and Superintendent or their designees. The Council’s work is accomplished through its committees which are comprised of NHECC members as well as parents, community members, New Haven Public School staff and representatives of other organizations that work with children from birth to age 8.
